Memorial Service for Kiyoto Kato
Will be held at our church this Saturday, Aug. 30, 10:30 a.m.
Our Japanese speaking congregation has asked if the English speaking congregation could assist with the reception by bringing dessert. If you are able to contribute, please contact the church office. Also, any monetary gifts (koden) in support of the family will be personally delivered to Kiyoto's family in Japan. Because U.S. currency will have to be converted to yen, it would be easiest if these gifts are given in cash rather than check

Join Us This Sunday!

Are You Great With Kids?
Here's your opportunity to be involved with the SFVHC Rescue Ministry.
The first and second Sunday of every month we host the homeless people in the SFVHC.
We feed them a hot meal and then they spend the night in Howe Hall along with the Rescue Mission personnel. The 15-30 guests, including children, arrive around 6:15pm.
Our volunteers are finished for the evening at approximately 7:30pm.
Kurt Wegner is in charge of the kids' ministry and currently he is serving alone.
This has been difficult at times and we are asking for additional volunteers.
We would like to have one more male and two female volunteers.
This way we can have two teams with a male and female on each team and each team will serve only once a month. Please pray about this and if you are led, please contact Kurt Wegner, Lynne Yonemoto or Tom & Lynda Kira. God bless you.

Opportunities To Serve:
Want to get involved at church but don’t know how or where to start?
Consider the following:
1. Join the church clean-up crew. It requires no special skills and people of all ages may participate! It’s a good way to meet others from church too!
Questions or to sign up, see Lynda Kira.

2. We need one more volunteer for Sunday School (Kid Venture) administration

Administrators help to get supplies and props together
for Sunday School teachers and shepherds.
Questions or to sign up, see Lynda Kira.

3. Join the coffee hour ministry team.
Help serve the goodies between services.
Questions or to sign up, see Grace Yokomizo.

THANK YOU for answering the call for winter clothing for the Rescue Center ministry. We have plenty of warm clothing to offer out guests now, but because of lack of storage space, please do not bring anymore clothes to church. You may call the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission to schedule a pick-up of your usable items. (1-800-417-5678)

Announcements for the Sunday bulletin
should be submitted by Tuesday to be included in the Sunday bulletin.
